Hey Caroline,Thank you for your kind appreciation!

Medium vs Insta - Omg, I could actually write a few things on this subject cos I was pretty active on instapoetry for all of last year. I think in terms of promoting yourself as a writer and building success, just like Medium, you will find a lot of micro-communities that will push you forward. They will feature your poems, feature you as a poet, and read you on poetry lives. And if you happen to be a people's person, you will grow fast. Cos you can then host lives as part of these micro-communities and read other poets' works. These community pages also host poetry prompts and contests in which you can participate to get more visibility.(They curate writers by way of hashtags, which you're expected to use in abundance if you want people to reach your page.) But the biggest downside for me is that if you're going to insta to build a following, you have to have a public profile, so there's this really big question of privacy and plagiarism. And then there's this whole charade of follow 4 follow, like 4 like, to get to a point where you have visibility. But I also know of some stellar writers/poets who stay away from the fake camaraderie and genuinely support writers they like. I closed my account for a no of reasons, mostly involving toxicity. I prefer it here, cos it's safe and it seems less like a popularity contest. There's more focus on reading and writing and genuinely connecting with writer stories from around the world.

Phew...I hope this was helpful, Caroline :).
