Trigger Alerts
The agility of pain in my veins
Dewy ruptures of shackled reins
Lips fastened with needle and thread
It trickles down my skin in jeweled sweat.
It swarms into my blood boiling
in overtures of metallic breaths recoiling
Slinking through stirrups sharp as knives
A million bees throng from a heaving hive.
Wind garrots between my lungs in trigger alerts
as it splits open the contents of my empty gut
Proliferating, whittling ominously into cirrus clouds
Its cavernous echo numbs me in my corporeal shroud.
Phantoms of pain chained me much too close
Undressing life in the open to a bushed spirit’s throes
I burn my layers, lighting candles in a holed caricature
A mouth chock full of vowels, waning into memory erasure.
